What problems are you trying to solve?
Ever since I joined GE, I have been involved in developing chips for GE’s next generation medical imaging systems, such as Digital X-Ray, CT, SPECT, and PET/MR. More technically, I am working on high performance front-end readout Integrated Circuits (ICs). The challenge is to make the ICs add near zero electronic noise and consume the least amount of power, at the highest speeds possible, and at a low cost. Innovations in IC designs enable the lowest possible dose radiation, high quality and fast imaging, which provides a massive competitive advantage for the GE family of businesses and improves the lives of GE’s customers.

When you were a kid, what was your dream job?
My dream job was to be a superhero. Whenever people needed my help, I would be there (flying of course, cape required); whatever the challenge was, I would always be able to figure out a way to overcome it (upon saying some magic words, as simple as that); I would know everything (no need for Google. Internet was not invented then) and be willing to do anything good for human beings.

What do you do on an average Sunday?
My average Sunday keeps changing from time to time. Nowadays, my kids usually wake me up in the early morning, depriving me the privilege of getting up late. Then I generally try to be as silly as I can to entertain them, as creative as I can to keep them busy (yeah, that’s the goal). And I also take some time to brew a cup of nice tea and enjoy music, while dreaming of taking my family traveling around the world.

What is the most important invention of the last 25 years and why?
I would say it is the Internet search engine. If you want to know something, the first advice would often be “Google it.” You see, Google is a company the started by providing Internet searching services; now its name has become a verb of daily use. You can be an expert in any area you want to know about by researching the related topics through the Internet search engine. Actually, it helped fulfill my DIY dreams, from home improvements to creative kid’s crafting. Its impact on our life is huge.
