Aerothermal Technologies Lab

The Aerothermal Lab focuses on heat & mass transfer, reciprocating engines, turbomachinery and combustion.

The team develops advanced compression technologies, including piston engines and turbo machinery with passive and active flow control. Novel concepts for diesel combustion are under development from the perspective of reaction chemistry, heat transfer and fluid-flow.

The lab employs a high-performance computing infrastructure, complemented by experimental facilities which include test cells supplied with 1MW electric power and a natural gas supply equivalent to about 2MW thermal. Pressurized air is available for flow and combustion experiments.
