GE Global Software Headquarters To Open in California
Hi everybody, today is my first day blogging for Edison’s Desk and I am doing so from our new location – the GE Global Software Headquarters in San Ramon, California! I joined GE recently and it has already been an exciting few weeks here. Just today, GE announced the opening of the company’s software headquarters here in California.
The software center is a part of the GE Global Research family, as our mission here is to help connect software employees across the businesses and migrate technology from one business to another. For those of you who are frequent readers of Edison’s Desk, you know that there are numerous stories of collaborations and technologies being transferred from business to business with the help of Global Research. We’ve seen healthcare technology put into wind turbines and jet engine technology put into light bulbs. I am excited to be a part of a group whose mission is to make more of these connections and technology collaborations happen in the software space.
With more than 5000 software employees across GE, the new headquarters in San Ramon will be developing digital offerings that make use of the incredible amount of data in the world, build the “Industrial Internet” and provide solutions to some of GE’s customers’ biggest challenges. We’re also expanding the team here with plans to hire 400 software architects, engineers, business development, and user experience professionals.
The “Industrial Internet” refers to not just individuals being connected to one another through the internet, but our machines connecting to one another, communicating, and making intelligent decisions based on that data. The “Industrial Internet” provides countless opportunities for GE to provide value to our customers and that is what our new software center aims to do. What a great present for San Ramon. This will be a big boost to the are not only economically, but GE’s tech center will be a big plus for Bishop Ranch’s and San Ramon’s image and appeal. Here’s what we said – http://bit.ly/rutiez
